i was referring to once you're a certain distance away in the part when you attempt to get away, not at point blank range, absolutely redirect when in hand to hand distance, but outside of ten feet your likely to not get hit by anyone without really good training

10 feet? No. 7 meters, yes. I go to the range about once a week, and most people have a hard time hitting a stationary head sized target at 7 yards, but they'll definitely hit it. If you're moving at 7 meters+, you're ok. 10 feet is almost nothing, it's practically point blank as it is.

the problem with this technique is that most muggers will stand 5 - 10' away and ask you to put money/ valuables on the ground. If a mugger gets all up in someone's face like this, they might as well be using a hatchet or a knife.

I was actually mugged not too long ago. Luckily the kid doing it was scared shitless and was shaking, showing me that he had a weak hold on the gun. I took the opportunity to take it away and on the floor till police came.

Yes, I am not dissing, I like the tecnic, but the whole idea of training if for your head not the get blocked since the conflict situation is familiar to your brain.
I will refrase my question,
-If the gun is fired while you hold it and it cuts or burns your hand if you will still be able to hold the gun, or you reaction will probably release the gun and the get the headshot.
