It was originally developed by Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski while they were students ... The name Zend is a combination of their forenames. Andi Gutmans (Hebrew: אנדי גוטמנס) is an Israeli programmer with Swiss roots, PHP developer and co-founder of Zend Technologies.
