Yea that's true. I'm sick of mac users saying that their operating system is so much better and that it justifies paying apple double what the actual hardware is worth just to get MacOSX. However you could easily make a really good OEM pc and put Linux on it which in my opinion is way better then OSX and is free.

I love mac too, but people needs to take their own responsability for backing up their hard drives. I know your frustration, but learn from this lesson. Buy and external drive and use it with time machine (problem solved) All hard drives crash at some point.
