Are you sure you downloaded GMod 9? Because downloaded GMod 10 without buying it and putting it in SourceMods is wrong in 2 ways:
1) Its illegal
2) GMod 10 dosent work if you put it in SourceMods

ugh, you can also do this by going into the options in GMOD or HL2, clicking Keyboard, then Advanced, then checking "enable console". which one takes less time? that's right, the one that doesn't involve "-console".

Some people including me dont have the "tilde" button and cant open the console in many games.

Its Valves program for games In steam you can buy games from the valve store and you can play games from the my games list.
In order to play gmod You need steam with a legal copy of hl2

Can you help me out man? I can't open my steam, A pop up comes up and says "Steam is already running, you can only run one version of steam at a time" WTF I closed everything on my desktop and nothing was running? I even uninstalled it then installed it agian but it still does the same thing. Can you help me out?

i think its the steam process that is still running.
it takes some time to close down simply open task manager and close the steam.exe process that should help

Bleiwolf u don't NEED half life to play gmod, U need a legal copy of any source game INCLUDING half life, u can get gmod to run with any of the steam games properly installed and legal, the games include, Day Of Defeat, Counter Strike: Source, Halflife, Portal (One I have) and a few more, but to run Gmod u need a source game

depends on wich version you want/have gmod 9 only is compatible with hl2 css and hl2dm
You can get a version without hl2 but i think its not as good as the original because alot of props are missing
gmod10 is compatible with all orange box games

so would that mean I have gmod 10 cuz I have portal? cuz it doesn't say which version I have, I thought I had 10, because when I bought it, there were gmod 9 and gmod, I looked at release dates, which is a good idea for buying the best version or latest, and the gmod one was the latest, but didnt say version so im guessing I have 10
