Police Taser Drunk Driver Resisting Arrest

Video Description:
This video is an excellent example of proper use of force with a taser-gun. A very intoxicated suspect resists the officer's repeated lawful commands both verbally and physically. The officer finally has to taser suspect to prevent him from getting back into his vehicle, thus saving lives us innocent motorist. Note how many times the officer tells him to put his hands behind his back.
The taser-gun kept the officer and the suspect from receiving injury.

You obviously dont understand how police force works. Since the drunk driver did not use his hands to hurt the officer, he could not use his hands to punch him or anything to help him in the car, since he was resisting it would be very hard for the cop to force his hands behind his back so he used his non lethal force. A.K.A his taser.

wsymphony: this officer was possibly in a fight for his life. He is alone in a rural area with no immediate backup. Fights like this at times end up with the suspect getting hold of the officer's gun and killing him with it. This isn't TJ Hooker- not a TV show-it can be difficult to use hands to control someone. He had every chance to comply before electricity. The procedure was followed to the letter. Every force tool, including hand-to-hand, has lethality with it, not just tasers.

Being a police officer is one of the safest jobs there is. And again, tasers are more lethal than hand-to-hand, but that depends whether the cop does his job properly or not.

Tasers have revolutionized use of force. So many suspects have gone to jail with no more than teensy-weensy puncture marks in their skin. There have been deaths, but the non injured clearly outnumber them. Usually, people who hate that Taser want their chance to fight the cop-like it's an unfair "game" or something.

I suggest that you look at the statistics on which job has more deaths. Police are not even in the top ten. Being a taxi driver is more dangerours.

Give the Taser some time. I am sure if an officer were arresting someone who had comitted a henious crime against you or someone you love, and was resisting arrest, you would all-of-a-sudden love the Taser.
