Macworld San Francisco 2000-The Mac OS X Introduction (Pt.2)

Uploaded by: peestandingup
Video Description:
By request, here is when Steve Jobs introduced Mac OS X for the first time ever. I edited the video myself to show the very best moments of the presentation & split it up into 3 parts on account of youtube's bogus time limit.

That is a application that Apple made call bomb.app and it would show when an application crashes, it doesn't crash the rest of the system with it like Mac OS 9 usually does. Jobs demonstrates it later on in the keynote.

Its funny watching him introduce all the OSX revolutions they introduced, and seeing almost all these new innovations now being within Vista. Even the simple things like the Aqua, or just the way you can close windows that aren't the active windows...these were all little things OSX created. And still, OSX 10.0 is still better than the current Vista GUI.

PDF Based. It has a PDF rendering engine built close to the core of the OS. Same with QuickTime, therefore rendering of any media pretty much on a Mac is blazing fast. As Steve Jobs says, "Boom"

What about Panther ubernub? OSX in general? OSX came about around the same time as XP, and Vista came out SEVEN YEARS LATER.

"You must realize, that was the year 2000, only 2 years after Windows 98, the design of the MAC OS back there was TOTALLY revolutionary, compared to what windows 98 had!"
In addition, the Macintosh 128K came out in 1984, while the first Windows came out in 1986. It was basically a slightly more graphical DOS then too, it wasn't until 3.11 or so that you could really do much with them. Mac just improved and improved.

It was not a revolution, more like an evolution. Transparency, pdf based interface, fancy GUI widgets were all shown in varios OS's and OS extensions before this presentation. OS/2, X's and even XP. Yes, XP alpha and beta versions were demonstrated more than a year before OS X.
