I am going to venture that an individual person who has joined YTB hired you, not the actual company. By pulling up their "Can Do It Travel" website, they have their own travel site. Therefore they are not a subsidary but instead an individual site owner (RTA). Such, you will not be suing YTB but instead that individual.

YTB posted their third quarter financials with the SEC this week. Not good. The are losing reps, and selling assets. Profits are down 87.5% even after laying off employees. This is probably the result of the current economy and the fall out effect of the lawsuits for being an illegal pyramid. That never helps recruiting.

Mark, thx 4 the info! I recently was contacted by reps from YTB Travel who wanted me to participate in a conference call an hour and a half later, but I had to check out their website 1st. After seeing the video and the RTA fee of almost $500 (!), I did more investigating. My investigations eventually led me to your page, which has made my decision to not get involved w/YTB more sound. I have made a very good living doing this, and I will continue to make a very good living (my numbers have more than doubled every year). Not only in income, but in lifestyle as well. (I prefer to keep the exact amount private). You can check out YTB's own income disclosure to see how much their reps make (or don't make). There is really no comparision. What I do is completely different from the YTB business model. My business is not mlm or network marketing. It is leisure group travel.

Mark, What's the latest news on YTB? I know they are crumbling and scrambling to try and stay alive. They are trying to initiate a new marketing campaign with CD's that cost a dollar to recruit "suckers" into their scheme.
Sadly, 80% of the people that got involved in YTB lost their money and didn't make a penny. The "fat cats" at the top will soon pay for all the lies they have told to all of their downline when the company gets sued and no longer exists.

Wow! I have so much to say I was presented with this "opportunity" tonight. The emphasis was on recruiting other people! The only thing I could find on actual travel commissions was one agent received a $10 check. Then they talk about a homeless woman who is now a director. She borrowed the start up money they say. Why didn't she borrow some rent money? Signed up 19 people? Homeless with a computer and who the heck recruited her! More in the next post

O.K. there are new laws in many states. You can pay no more than $500 in any one month to a home based biz. So now start-up in these states is $250 of course plus the 49.00 a month. But that only gives you 30% commission. You have to pay the balance to get the full 60% those paying $499 get. I agree with someone else who says YTB can't prove that 80.92%/246,837 reps spend less than one hour working their biz but that is that number on their disclosure who make no money. I wish all YTBrs luck

I just want to say that although you are trying to be fair and honest about YTB, I think you are missing a few things. I have been an RTA with YTB for about 3 months now and I have made MORE than what I've spent just on the travel portion alone.

However, people must understand a few things. Fist, The $50 a month is a hosting fee that can go away when you follow the program. Second, the $449 startup fee and the $50 /month hosting fee are tax-deductable.

You have to be able to recruit and keep I think it is 6 people, and they have to be at a certain level for your $50 monthly fee to go away. And, any business can deduct appropriate business expenses. And, You still have to pay for them. So free is still better.

I'd say this video of yours really encourages me to join YTB. Nothing is for free and I'm sure you and I know better on this. Now, if $500 entry fee with a monthly maintenance fee of $50 provides me the same as any travel service would have... I find it very fair for what the return might be. Added to this, you can help franchising the company to further expand and you're paid for this. Sounds good. Interesting points that further encourage me to look into YTB. Mark, Good video, though!!

I just noticed that down on the bottom of the YTB Canadian retail websites that "Travel services, arrangements and products are not offered or available to residents of California." This probably has to do with the $100 million dollar law suit by the Attorney General that states that YTB is an illegal pyramid scheme.

Again, Mark... I tell you what your presenting makes me feel. Of course, I'm in YTB but rather than discourage me and turn me away, on the contrary, such tactic as yours is an added motivation to further go on in offering others what I believe in. As you rightly say it's a very good networking outlet. Also, nothing stops me to add to my networking opportunities and you could have one that has nothing to do with bridges but more with bridging..;-) As for being attacked I know a lot about it.

Interesting case study of human behavior. It must be along the same lines as telling people that smoking is bad for them, and can kill you... and some people take that message, and start smoking. Reverse psychology of sorts. Some people like to do things that are bad for them. I am not sure that this is a healthy response. But what can I do about it? What do I want to do about it? I don't know about YTB as a company, but one of the so-called leaders, Kent McLaughlin is a scammer. I don't recommend joining his team.
