i dont think it rele has to do with just the bottle and alcoholism at all. the entire time the hands are trying to destroy the bird but it always finds a way to get to love. even in the end when the paper burns it flys through a hole. this video is stunning.

but yea maybe it is with the alcoholism, like the bottle at the end. when he finally got out of the bottle he got her back.
maybe the rest of it were vices and things getting in the way him him getting her back.

my vote is that the hands represent the alcohol addiction and he's the bird/wolf/horses/fish/bird again cause the hands keep making him jump over rulers and is creating difficult obstacles and whatever and is even what puts him in the bottle. then when the bird gets out of the bottle and finds the other bird that he loves, the hands cant ruin it cause he's free from the addiction
