Lee Aaker played rusty, he went on to help produce 'Route 66' in 1960. he then 'dropped out' and became a carpenter, he still makes appearances at conventions!

The series was originally filmed and telecast in black & white. In 1976, there was a short-lived attempt by the series' original producer, Herbert B. Leonard, to "revive" it in syndication by having "Lt. Rip Masters" appear in new color prologues, while the bodies of each original episode were tinted in sepia. In the late '90s, most of the episodes were "colorized"...
