Cold Steel Voyager Medium: Great EDC... with some mods

You don't hear too much about this perfectly sized and mostly affordable EDC option. In medium size, the Voyager has all kinds of utility and could even function is a emergency defensive blade. But the overriding low point in current production CS Voyagers is the poorly executed pocket clip. Its very strong and blackened (all good) but it's poorly shaped and rests atop some aggressive diamond checkering that rips up your pockets. To cure this I've done some simple mods: re-profiling the clip and then epoxy-filling the diamond pattern under the clip. That makes this otherwise excellent design... well... excellent (other than the low mounted clip that makes the knife stick out about 3/4" from your pocket). Great features on the medium sized CS Voyager include a quality AUS8 steel, solid lockup after a fast (manual) deployment, nicely shaped handle with good traction, and a perfectly sized and sharpened EDC blade. And actually this blade size and shape ranks among my all time favorite EDC options... and
I love the hollow grinding on it. And at a mere 1.8 oz this lightweight knife is superbly easy to carry. At around $40 this knife is a little on the pricey side for an FRN handled knife but it's still a good buy. With the mods, it's a near perfect EDC option.
