Fivepenny Piece - Mi Gronny - Wheeltappers 5/7

Video Description:
Ever since I saw Fivepenny Piece on 'That's Life' in the mid 1976, I have loved their music.
This is 'Fivepenny Piece at the Wheeltappers' - a special edition of the legendary show set in a working mans club. Back when it was shown in 1977 I watched it and recorded the audio on my trusty cassette recorder, playing the tape constantly ever since.
I cannot believe I am now able to see the video of this show, 31 years on. I am very indebted to the person who sent me this video. Ok, the tape stutters from time to time and the sound is out of sync . . . but this is a very rare glimpse of this fabulous band in their prime, doing what they do best.
This song features Lynda Meeks. The other members of the band are Eddie Crotty (left) her brother John Meeks, George Radcliffe who is the guy wearing the hat and finally there's Colin Radcliffe - who along with John wrote most of the songs.
This song was based on an old Lancashire dialect poem by Sam Laycock, and set to music by John Meeks.
Some of the band members are still recording today. For further information, please check out the Fivepenny Piece website at:
