As a pianist, "The Killer" Jerry Lee Lewis always complained because he had to sit down during his shows. Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash suggested him to stand up. Jerry Lee accepted their advice. So he started to kick the chairs, to go up on the keyboards and even to burn pianos.

I think he's referring to the backlash that occured with Jerry's relationship with a 13 year old. Elvis' management was very afraid a similar backlash would kill Elvis' reputation if it was ever found out that he was going out with a then 14 year old Priscilla Presley. So Elvis, although passionately in love with Priscilla, had to tone down his relationship with her and waited until she hit legal age (21) to marry her. There were accounts that he wanted to marry her much sooner than that.

His career has spanned pretty much every type of music- rock,country, soul, jazz, blues, pop, r'n'b, dixieland. Artists need to be versatile to survive and Jerry is the best example I can think of surviving- decades. First public performance was 1949 first recordings 1952 latest record release 2009.Sixty year career.

to undeadnightorc. elvis was infactuated with pricilla when he first met her but in order to get her to graceland he had to tell her father that hed marry her. and that turned out to be a problem because he realised after a year or so he didnt want to but had to hold his end of the bargin because he knew her father would go to the press and tell all

Thank you for the explanation, i noticed that Elvis and a few other singers do it too, but what does wella hella mean? At first i thought he was saying "well I hella(=hell of a, stretching it between the l and the a) said come on over baby" but he definitely puts the I after the hella part so I don't get what the meaning of wella hella is, cause when they all use it it must have some meaning in it... :/
