Looks like the 'bubble' is simply a way to pin point the sectors of evolution...
...such as Baby Boomer, Generation X, Generation Y & The Millennia (Internet) Generation the way sectors of people are classified on the time line.
So, we have web 1.0 trends, web 2.0 trends and then so on...
The question is: Is this just a passing phase or a fad in a 'bubble' that will be topped by a web 3.0 eventually...
Or will what is defined as web 2.0 fads sustain as the Way of the internet indefinitely?

I don't think web 2.0 will become as what can be classified as a 'trend in a bubble'...
...I think technology and the consumer market will embrace and help solidify what is defined as 'web 2.0'...
...but I do think that the dot com'ers of the web 1.0 trends were over zealous with what they thought was suppose to happen to work, bring acceptance, and/or success.

Or it may be more of an integration where what is being defined as web 2.0 will not disappear
but what may be coined as web 3.0 (as technology and user participation increase) will gradually emerge
with traces of 2.0 still existing just as there are companies that survived the web 1.0 upset...

Web 2.0 is a scam ... ( 8 months ago by gunsandbullhorns)
Web 2.0 is a scam to restrict access to information. I'm not talking about piracy— I'm talking about information. News, statistics, etc. Web 2.0 will give service providers the ability to restrict traffic to sites that compete with their interests.
This documentary is trying to paint it as an "economical" issue. The truth is much more simple.
In this case it ... ( 8 months ago by librariannz)
In this case it refers to a disparity in the value of a give company/industry and the perceived value.
In web 1.0 there was a lot of hype and investment and money flowing around websites - in particular online retail. The actual finance and returns of various web 1.0 companies turned out to be much worse than expected.
This disparity between value, and perceived value, is a bubble - which "burst" in '99 when company results became public and analysts noted the low returns and shares dropped.

This doesn't actually answer the question in the title of the video. I don't think a bubble would be as damaging as 1.0. It will be damaging to companies who have shelled out billions in acquisitions and get it wrong. What these websites need is a strategy. How can a business model be created to create a cash flow. There are a lot of eye-balls on these sites, businesses just need to figure out how to make money from all these eye-balls, which will require a new advertising model.

these guys are imposters. CEOs never are never the following (in order of appearance): kid from sandlot, freebie shirt from trade show under sport jacket wearers, have hands bigger than head, perry farrell/watch on right wrist, lou diamond philips, "Peter" from Office Space (w/goatee), McLovin' from Superbad, David Spade/Thom Yorke, James Gandolfini's British uncle, retired 49ers quarterback and canadian norman bates.

what a bunch of self promoting for "user content based" setups...think about it. The ones that defend it are in debt and are gonna go when the credit trip ends. Build meaningful and not vaporware that gets old because people get sick of assholes trying to restrict your internet experience. If you only know "social sites" you are missing out and/or are not that bright. Lets push these mongers out of biz. Peace.

ajax and mongrel and ruby on rails are scams, search google for what the creator of mongrel says about what is going on. Big biz hire "consultants" for less, they give them 2 weeks training, offer them to big players that buy into the hype. BS coding happens and user generated content, wich means they could not be arsed to present you with a product, dumbs down the web mood. Fuck the Hype. web 2.0 is as dead as these self promoting dubious characters.
