Chess Tactic: "There is no fork"
Uploaded by: GreenCastleBlock
Video Description:
One of the most disappointing moments in a pawn's life is when it achieves a piece fork but one piece retreats and pins it allowing the other piece to escape.
This is a partial examination of my last round game from the Evanston G60 yesterday in which I tied for first ( http://www.evanstonchess.org ).
For extra fun, see if you can figure out:
1) How Black wins after 15...Ng4 16.hxg4
2) How Black wins after 15...g5 16.g3 g4 17.hxg4 h4 18.g5 hxg3 19.gxf6

Matt, I see your old-man-humour has progressed significantly. Impressive.
"b4 followed by Ne4" is not possible instead of 8...h5 since Black's pawn is on b7.
After 8...h5 (A rare move. 8...Bb4 9.Na4 is mainline), 9.f4 is in fact the main move, then Black responds ...b5 and White has a choice to make. This was supposed to be a simple tactical video not a discussion of Taimanov theory or I would have pointed these things out.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks
