It may be an advantage to be middle or lower class when it comes to success. Money often merely polutes one's time and experiences.
The person who truly experiences reality to the maximium of their capacity may just be the most successful. The gas station employee who lives to serve, and experiences each moment as if in constant meditation could have the ultiamte experience and truly understand success ('peaceful warrior' watch it, live it - 'way of the peaceful warrior' read it, live it).

it's interesting that many people's defintion of success is very similar..(which tells me that maybe that definition is programmed into many people.)can we all take a moment and reach deep down inside ourselves to define what is really important to us without outside influences/traditions. this country is a big supermarket..all day people are so busy trying to make money to buy things...this race is not living we are only complying with the people who created this system we live in.

That question doesn't even make sense. Can you have a wrong definition? I mean if a culture determines the meaning of a word, doesn't that also mean that a subculture can have it's own meaning to that word? Is there a wrong answer to this question?

The answer to the question is key. From the question, actually provides information on a person's character. Basically it comes to another question is the human mind corruptible for negative values to consider. Abominations of morality can become goals or definitions of success. Also on the question of 'the poor' do you mean financial less fortunate? Upon defining success you have to define poor. Seek one without the other is mundane.
