I really want this camera!...Anyone know if the standard 18-55 IS lens is worth starting with? Or am I better off spending the extra $500 for the 18-200 (IS)? Is there really that much difference? I mean, I'll still be able to take pretty good shots with the basic lens yeah?

The 18-55mm is fine for getting started, but obviously the 18-200mm will give you a range that's almost four times bigger in a single lens. Depends what you want and how much you have to spend. Feel free to discuss this further in the Canon section of the cameralabs forums!

Hi there Gordon, i've currently got a TZ5 and im looking to upgrade to a 450D. Would you suggest i upgrade now or wait next year for the 500D or whatever its replacement will be called?? Im in no real hurry to upgrade and i could keep my TZ5 for a little while longer but i want to know whether its worth waiting for the 450D's replacement.

That's impossible to say as it would be pure speculation! If Canon keeps to an 18 month cycle, then the 450D's replacement wouldn't be due until around this time next year, so it would be a while away yet, and who knows what features it would have. There'll always be a new model, so unless you know or suspect there's one coming in the next couple of months, I'd say simply buy when you actually want or need a new camera.

I just ordered a camera like this one Canon xsi 450D I am ansious this is my first camera of this type so I don't know how well it will turn out to be. I got a question,why in quick mode when i keep holding the release button the mirror still flips back and at your demonstration it didn't?!Maybe they upgraded that at the newer firmware to make the shooting in this mode faster?Thanks!

I can't decide between this and the D60. Overall I would say the XSI performs better. But I don't like the way it feels, the D60 feels sturdier.

I mean what you were showing at 4:30 you kept pushing the button and the mirror didn't flip until you released the button.Even though i keep holding the button the mirror flips and doesn't stay as you showed.Hmm..
