Actually no they did not buy it steve jobs has even said this, They were given a chance to look at the GUI that Xerox had and were given compleate access to the code. Apple did not buy it at all no money was exchanged. BUt Xerox did get some apple stock. but that was before Xerox Knew what they had.

Trust Jobs to involve himself in a tepid charade like this. What a lot of old tosh! (no pun intended!) Three months after his OS9 farewell display, Apple quietly re-introduced the August 2002 Power Mac G4 MDD because of demand for Mac OS 9 machines. I'm still doing just fine with my Mirror Drive Door dual boot, and, still (have to) use OS 9 for certain hardware related apps! (but not much!!!) Good 'ol rock solid OS9.

Windows 3.0 there first GUI system is 1991 or so
DOS NOT created by Bill Gates, It was Bought for$ 50,000 from some guy in seattle or Portland. And Apple was started in 1976. I think Microsoft was 1981-85 somewhere.
