Air Crash Investigation/Mayday: All Engines Failed Part 4

Uploaded by: MI6MI5
Video Description:
British Airways Flight 9 experiences views of St. Elmo's fire on the plane along with smoke smelling like sulphur in the cabin. Suddenly, all engines on the 747-236B start flaming. Then, they flame out. "This is Speedbird 9. All 4 engines have failed!" the pilot shouts on the radio. With 263 people in the balance, Flight 9 starts falling.

Have to agree with ... ( 3 months ago by Jbloke)
Have to agree with speedbirda380, as far as i am aware nobody has ever survived an emergency landing on water. The plane cannot be slowed enough to prevent it from breaking up on contact with the water, it was never designed for it. They only put those instructions on the back of the card in the HIGHLY unlikely prospect of it holding together on landing. As in about 1 in a 100:(
Yes. When a plane ... ( 3 months ago by SpeedbirdA380)
Yes. When a plane try's to land on water it is ripped apart. The plane will de-celerate from about 170mph to 0mph almost instantly because the engine's become huge scoop's that hit the water and that rip's the plane apart. The impact would kill most people.
I think I would rather take my chance's with a emergency landing on land!

Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7AW 205.3 kN each
Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7J 222.4 kN each
Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7R4G2 243.5 kN each
General Electric CF6-50E2 230.4 kN each
Rolls Royce RB211-524D4 231.3 kN each

It is Rolls-Royce RB211 since British Airways has Rolls-Royce on almost all their planes (except a batch of the 777's with GE90's).
Basically, one engine on a 747 will make it slowly descend, two engines (depending on weight) can barely hold altitude, three and four engines, the plane can fly perfectly fine.
