I've got the book, and all it says is that they were too old and tired to get out of bed. The book also says that Grandpa Joe is 96 years old, so he is pretty old, not that you would ever know from that dance routine lol.

That's really not true. I like this movie version better, but the Johnny Depp version is far more true to the book (explaining why they changed the name back to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as in the book) Johnny Depps appearance matches the drawings in the books, there's peanuts not golden eggs like the book, and the oompa loompas are never described as orange, they go to the factory during winder not october along with many other things following the book that the original movie did not

I saw this movie for the first time in my life yesterday (it's not quite as well known here in Denmark, and I have no idea why), and this song is for me the most magical moment in the movie, no matter if Charlie sings well in it or not. It's just so sweet and so wonderful, it makes me weep a little with joy. I love it.
