Ok what is a SIP account? I have my own phone number with Skype so that people on landlines and cell phones can call me and I can call them as well. So I don't know if I have "SIP" or not.

You don't have SIP, but basically it's the same as Skype. The difference is that SIP is a standardized protocol whereas Skype is proprietary closed source. Both are VoIP.

Thank you for response. So since I already have a registered Skype Account with a Skype Phone number for people on landlines and cell phones to call me, does this mean all I have to do is download fring on my iPhone, log into my Skype account, and I can make phone calls and receive calls from people dialing my number? I just want to make sure I understand this correctly.

Someone was reporting that you couldn't actually call anyone on a cell phone or landline with Fring on Skype, but I've only seen one person say that and they probably didn't have a Skype Out account. If you don't have one, you won't be able to call out once your initial given credit on your account runs out. I pay $2.95 for Unlimited U.S. and Canada calling for Skype.

This will also work on the iPod Touch, but unfortunately the iPod Touch has no microphone, so in order to use Skype you'd have to shell out $50-$60 for the Touchmod Mic extension. Why do that when the 3G iPhone coming out July 11th will cost a lot less, already have the built in microphone. All you have to do is jailbreak it, add Fring, and then you can make and receive calls at any Wifi area. There is no Data only plan for the iPhone, so we'll have to rely on Wifi for Skype use.

I don't know about you all but I refuse to pay AT&T outrageous prices for a voice and data plan. I admit I would get a data plan only for the iPhone cause then I could make and receive calls on Skype anywhere with it, but that will never happen because Apple & ATT both know us smart people will do that. So Wifi only it is.

This all sounds easy, but lets also remember that as soon as we jailbreak it, its ours forever (unless you sell on ebay). You will not be able to return it and get your money back if something goes wrong and it voids your warranty. Not that the warranty covers crap anyways.
