where it says layers on google earth turn them all of.then turn on only terrain and 3d buildings.there.problem solved.

Google earns most of its money through its contextual ads, both on its search results and on third party websites. I've no idea how they're planning on monetizing google earth, or if they have already, but that does not seem to be a high priority to them. I think thats a good thing. My guess is that they make all these cool things because A. they want them too, and B. they want to build a loyal customer base, because loyal customers are damned near the most important thing for a company to have.
