heres a tip, if you upgrade the DCA's to the blue you get 23damage per 1$. if you upgrade the dca's to red the unit only does 15damage per 1$.
so its just a better idea to use DCA's at the blue level. its not worth 5range and a slightly faster shot, when you can more than double your damage for the same amount and clearly have a better range with 2.

first off... each stage of the dca 1-5 doubles damage with each upgrade... so basically the red DCA is another (cheaper) blue dca right off the bat with equal firepower. The increased speed and range make it much more efficient and lucrative to upgrade a blue to a red than upgrading another dca all the way to blue.
